10 Dec Get Started With Aerial Hoop Dance With These 3 Easy Combos
Welcome to aerialpractice – this is where I share with you how I grow as an aerial dancer. I started aerial dance with Aerial Hammock. After some lessons and an exciting performance, I invested in my own hoop in my second year of dancing in the air.
If you have been learning aerial hoop, you can find below three aerial hoop dance combos that are perfect for beginners to try.
The “Man in the Moon” Aerial Hoop Dance
This dance is great for beginners as you will be doing tricks inside the aerial hoop.
Starting at the hoop close to the ground, you will move the body in and out of the hoop to work on feeling the spin. This flow ends with a split after the Man in the Moon pose.
Aerial Hoop Dance choreography with Exist for Love by Aurora
This sequence is choreographed to dance to Aurora’s Exist for Love. A beautiful song that makes you want to spin around searching for love with your hoop dance.
You will need to have space above the hoop for tricks in this sequence, the sling/strap I used is 1 meter.
Dancing outside of the hoop is less stable than inside the hoop. It took a while for me to get over the fear of slipping off. Be sure you have a quality safety crash mat and a spotter before trying for the first time.

Upper Bar Combo
This upper bar combo is my favorite out of the three. Perhaps it is because it was the most challenging out of the three. Facing different kinds of fear in these tricks was no easy task, but the “I did it” feeling was so rewarding. Check out these beautiful moves too:
