01 Jan 5 Tips for Busy People to Get Flexible
Can you get flexible with a busy schedule? When I started my flexibility journey, how often should I stretch was all I thought about. Five months later, I returned to working and traveling full time. I adapted some changes to ensure I continue my flexibility journey. Read on to catch these tips for busy people to get flexible.
What was my flexibility goal?
Believe it or not, I never stretched on my own in the first 27 years of my life. I didn’t understand the importance of stretching, nor do I appreciate the joy of it. When I began aerial dance, I finally understood it is harder to just do/pick up things as you get older. I started stretching with the goal to advance in aerial dance. Getting flexible as an adult beginner was the hardest in the first 3 months.
After the first 3 months, I have learned that stretching doesn’t have to be painful. Once the habit was built, it was natural to continue stretching to grow. If you don’t know where to start, take a look, and try this 28 days Morning Stretch Challenge to kick start your flexibility journey.
How was my progress?
Getting flexible as an adult beginner was hard but it was wonderful. I felt like I am a teenager again. Since I have a busy schedule, I only spent 10 minutes to stretch a couple of times a week. However, the progress is real and you can see My 1 Year Flexibility Transformation as an Adult Beginner.
Tip #1: Take Baby Steps
If you want to be flexible, are you spending time to learn and train yourself at least a couple of times a week? Your daily actions should reflect what you are working toward, taking small but frequent steps.
If getting flexible is your goal, all you need is to make at least 10 minutes a few times a week to stretch.

Tip #2: Sneak in Gentle Stretches in Your Routines
Too busy to train your flexibility? You can always try to incorporate some light stretches throughout your day, like stretching while enjoying Netflix. I kept my home stretching-friendly, which means that plenty of space to move, sit on the ground, put the legs up on the wall, and a space heater to keep me warm.
Tip #3: Attend Guided Lessons to Get Flexible
One of the reasons why I enjoy taking aerial classes is to follow a guided lesson. That’s why I have not stopped taking lessons regularly whether I was on the road or under lockdown during the pandemic. You can see my experience taking aerial lessons everywhere (e.g. Hamburg).
If working on your flexibility is important for you, all you need is once a month or even once every 2 months to keep you going.
Tip #4: Incorporate Stretching Into Your Morning Routine
Having routines are the best way to stay consistent. Find a routine that you can rely on and come back to from time to time. Check out 28 days Morning Stretch Challenge and the Top 10 STRETCH series.
Tip #5. Let Your Results Motivate You
There is nothing is more rewarding than witnessing the fruit of your labor. My final stretching tip for you is to film yourself, watch your progress and changes. Not only it will motivate you to stretch, but you can also spot-check yourself to see what you need to improve on.
I hope you enjoyed these tips to get flexible for busy people. If I can do it, you can too!
