08 Dec Get more space for aerial sling in low ceilings
To dance with aerial sling, I put the two points of my aerial hammock together, adding a swivel and 2 carabiners to make it spin. It is so bulky and takes up so much space! It’s been a head ache of mine since I practice aerial sling in low ceilings.
I recently found a new (shorter but fatter) swivel that can replace all that gear to get more space for aerial sling in low ceilings! Find out more below.
*Info below is based on my personal experience. It is by no means an instruction. If you have any doubts, discuss with a professional about your setup.
PETZL Open gated Swivel
- No carabiners needed
- Spin well for aerial dance
- Gain 24cm of fabric space
This swivel is
It is a swivel and a carabiner at the same time, which means I already save 20cm just on leaving out carabiners and directly rigging my hammock on the swivel. The other end goes to my rig.
Exactly like my old ones. The only difference is I get more aerial space to move now! Super excited about getting myself less stuck.
The only down side using this swivel in low ceilings
Unlike carabiners, the gates of this swivel need to be screwed on. It is slightly less convenient to change gear but I am willing to take this small effort to replace my bulky old gear.
Rings to rig hammock
To further slim down my gear, I replaced these figure 8s with 45mm rings. Now you can see I have much more fabric space to dance with this aerial sling!
